Well, hello again! I guess you thought you had lost me there, didn't you? Nope! Just a super busy summer and a super tired Mommy at night once the kiddos go do bed :) Not complaining too much though...just not enough time to keep the blogging up as much.
So June came and went very quickly! Now look at us in mid-July! Crazy. The kids only have 5 weeks of summer left until school starts (Mother's Day Out). But luckily it stays warm here in Alabama for many months to come. So our June went a little like this:
May 31-June 2: We got into June quickly with a trip to the Tennessee River! It was actually a cool weekend and everyone was so surprised to have cool weather in June. Pat on the back for the Mommy who always over-packs and everyone had cooler weather items. No, it wasn't freezing and we did not need a heater, but when the sun wasn't out, it was chilly. We enjoyed taking a boat ride up to the marina and eating breakfast at the new restaurant there. That was Caleb's favorite part of the weekend!
June 6: The hot weather was back and we decided to go to one of our favorite places to cool off- the Botanical Gardens! The kids always enjoy splashing in the fountains then drying off to check out the turtles and butterflies before leaving. It was a really fun day.
June 8: We were a little surprised to finally have a slow weekend at home with nothing much going on, so we called and invited Addison to stay the weekend with us. The kids had SO much fun! Saturday morning Jeremy took Caleb and Addison to the Space and Rocket Center to play and explore while Kailyn took her morning nap. Annnd he forgot the camera! Oops...somehow that still ended up as my fault?! So after Kailyn woke up, we got packed and met the gang at the Gardens where they had Chick Fil A waiting on us...or they were waiting on us because we had the picnic blanket :) Anyways, we enjoyed a fun picnic lunch then the kids were anxious to splash in the fountains. This was Addison's first trip to the gardens and she loved it! Addison and Caleb are best friends, so I love it when we can get them together to play. Addison calls Kailyn, "sister" which is hilarious and sweet at the same time. I love that they are all so close and pray that they always will be.
June 14-16: Big weekend in Guntersville! Caleb actually went down on Thursday afternoon to spend some quality time with Grandmama and Grandaddy. Then on Friday Kailyn and I baked some treats and packed while Daddy worked then we all headed down after that. Saturday was a busy day with swimming in the morning then a picnic dinner at the lake while the Men golfed. On Sunday, Aunt Jessica got Baptized on Father's Day. Kailyn needed a morning nap during their Church service time and since she isn't used to their nursery workers, I decided to stay back with her and prepare a yummy Mexican feast to celebrate Jessica and all of the Dad's. We wrapped up Father's Day by cooking one of Daddy's favorite meals once we got back home- grilled hamburgers! Jeremy and I are so so very blessed to have such amazing Dad's who are even more amazing Grandfathers...the kids absolutely adore them. And I feel so blessed to have Jeremy as the father of my children, it doesn't get much better than this :) Oh! And we also celebrated Addison's Birthday a few days early since we would be at the beach during her party. We were sad to miss it, but so excited to get our toes in the sand...
June 20-23: Destin, FL We enjoyed an extended weekend in good ole Destin, Fl! We couldn't have asked for better weather, the kids swam, swam, and swam some more....but then they slept like rocks! We enjoyed lots of great seafood and just being away relaxing and enjoying some much needed family time.
Destin Day One: Jeremy and I woke up at 5am so that we could be showered and ready when the kids got up. Thnk again! The kids were super excited, woke up early, made it difficult to pack last minute items...but we finally made it out of the door only 45 minutes behind schedule. And we only stopped one time on the drive down...only because we had to get gas! We tried to stop for lunch but Caleb was SO excited he begged us not to, so Mommy broke out some lunchables and on we went. We got to Destin in plenty of time to check in and unpack before heading out for an early dinner at The Back Porch (yum!). Since we ate an early dinner out, we had more than enough time to swim in the lazy river pool before crab hunting. Or so we though...there was a lightning storm heading our way so we reluctantly just headed back inside for bath and bed time.
Destin Day Two: Another day of fun in the sun! Caleb rolled out of bed searching for his swimming gear- no joke! He was ready to go. We cooked a quick breakfast then headed down to the beach then the pool. We let the kids take a long nap after lunch then headed to dinner at The Crab Trap and also had ice cream on the boardwalk. Again, we had time to swim once we returned to our condo before crab hunting. Or so we thought...we got all the way down to the beach with both kids so excited. Step onto the beach and both kids loose it. Seriously?! Kailyn was worn out and Caleb was pitching a fit to be carried because he was scared that he would step on a crab. Oh well, we tried.
Destin, FL Day Three: We pretty much did the same routine as the previous day. Wake up, breakfast, beach, pool, lunch, nap, and dinner (at Fudpuckers). We changed it up a little bit after dinner by enjoying some arcade games then trying to take some family pictures in our "whites." We did get to go swimming afterwards, as usual, but we did not even mention crab hunting due to the disaster the night before! It was sad going to bed that night knowing that in the morning was pack up and leave day :(
So we got home from the beach on Sunday, June 23 just in time to unpack and prepare for a week of VBS at our Church starting bright and early Monday morning!
June 24-28: Vacation Bible School week. The week started off with both kids crying when I dropped them off but they still had awesome days. By the end of the week, they were excited about going and had even awesome-r days! I enjoyed volunteering with the preschool crafts again this year, lots of messy fun! Our Church did the Kingdom Rock series and it was definitely a hit. The kids are still singing the songs with the CD. The Church did things a little differently this year- on Friday we had a family fun day starting out with worship and songs together then we headed outside for a crop drop where we bagged 32,000 lbs of sweet potatoes for the hungry in our community. The Church then served a nice lunch of hot dogs, chips, and cookies to end an amazing week of fun! Caleb is still asking when he can go back to his VBS class, not his Sunday class. Ha!
Once we wrapped up VBS Friday at lunchtime, we headed home for some much needed naps...all while Mommy put her booty in gear to pack up to go to the River for FIVE days. Yes, that is right. Am I crazy for cramming so much fun into such a short time period? Maybe! But why not?! I will include our River trip in another post since it ran into July. So hopefully I will be back soon with more Gilmore updates :)
