Pearly Whites

We have had a FUN week with Kailyn so far! She is in the process of getting in not one, not two, but SIX teeth right now. All of her upper 4 and the other 2 bottom ones. Sunday-Tuesday were rough and finally today she has been a little better. She has been easily angered and super clingy. She has even gotten posessive over Mommy...when Caleb is close to me or sitting in my lap, she starts screaming and even comes over and pushes him out of my lap! But I have gotten some good snuggles in the last few days. I am just ready for my sweet girl to feel better. She has had a rough few months lately and I am soooo ready for her to feel 100% again!
I took this picture on Valentine's Day last week and got a good shot at some of her new teeth popping through. Of course, she has made more progress since then, but I thought it was a good one to share.

A Saturday at the Zoo

February 9, 2013
A few weeks ago, we had a little Spring teaser come through, the high was in the mid to upper 60's and sunny! We decided to take advantage of it and head to Birmingham to visit the Zoo for the day. Gran Gran was excited to go with us too. Since it was still a little cool in the morning, we drove duirng Kailyn's morning naptime and stopped at the Summit for lunch at the Cheesecake factory- Mommy's favorite, hands down! After a great lunch, we headed to the Zoo. The kids were so excited to be outside and to see the animals. We started off our visit with 2 scheduled activities: the Sea Lion training and feeding the Giraffes. Caleb did a great job feeding the Giraffe, what a neat experience! The rest of our visit, we just walked through watching all of the animals....and of course, we rode the train! It was a very fun but exhausting day....and we can't wait to do it again soon! The Zoo is definitely a family favorite place to spend a Saturday.

Happy Birthday, Princess!!

February 4, 2013
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday sweet Kailyn...Happy Birthday to you!!!
My sweet, sweet girl- how in this worl are you already ONE? 12 months. In a way I feel like you should still be this tiny 5lb 6oz baby girl that I always dreamed of meeting and holding in my arms. And in another way I feel like you have been in my life forever, so much so that there is no way I can think about not having you around. I love you SO much. Although a part of me wants to keep you small forever, I really can't wait to see the toddler then the kid then the teenager then the woman you become. Your personality is already so strong and you are already keeping us on our toes everyday! You definitely are headstrong but also sensitive and get your feelings hurt easily. You are just so precious. You have the biggest, brightest eyes that light up when you smile...and you smile a lot! Your hair is taking its time growing in and I just love kissing your fuzzy head, I know I will miss that so much one day. What can I say? I am absolutely smitten by you.
Now, your actual 1st Birthday was not the best one ever and I am so sorry. I hope that your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. are so fantastic and make up for it. You had been battling ear infections for several months and this last one your little body could not fight, it just would not go away! So we had to get tubes put in your ears. I wanted to cry when the nurse said that Feb 4 was the most recent date your doctor could do the surgery. I have always tried to make Birthdays a big deal around here! But the Mommy in me knew that you needed the surgery done asap and that pushing it another week would not be worth a fun Birthday. You were so brave at your surgery! The nurse came and got you so quickly and you weren't even back there for 10 minutes. You were really mad when you woke up, but they said that was typical with babies and anesthesia. We took you to Chick Fil A afterwards for breakfast because you hadn't had anything to eat all day. You finally calmed down enough and started to enjoy your breakfast, but then suddenly got mad again so we hurried you home. You started to refuse a nap, just wanting us to hold you, bless your little heart! I wanted so badly to just rock you all morning while you napped but knew it wouldn't be a good thing for either of us. After your nap, you seemd to feel so much better. Then Daddy turned your carseat around!!! You are officially a big girl, riding in style. It is still strange to look in the backseat and see you facing forward. But you love it! Gran Gran got you a dhouble dvd player for the car so now you and Caleb can watch tv. Daddy and I took you out to a big Birthday lunch at PF Changs and you ate rice and chicken like a big girl! After lunch we met Grandad with Caleb and then came home for yall's afternoon nap. Once you guys woke up from nap, we thought you felt up to doing something fun for your Birthday so we took you to Kids Venture, a local indoor playground and yall had a blast. We played for about an hour then decided to just pick up some chicken at Tenders for dinner because everyone was tired. It started out as a really really not so fun day, but it ended on a good note.
We love you SO much, sweet girl!!
Before surgery...
So excited to be facing forward.
PF Chang's for lunch.

Oh, and we finished off the night with a little leftover Birthday party cake- yum!!
