Last Thursday night (March 22), the Veggie Tales came to visit our Church. When we heard that the show was coming, we knew that we wanted to take Caleb to see them. Kailyn wasn't even born yet when we purchased the tickets, but we knew it would be best to get someone to keep her. So we reserved Gran Gran to come over and spend the evening with her. We told Caleb that it was his special night and asked him to choose where we went for dinner. He said, "the red apple." I translated that as Applebee's and he agreed that I was right.
Earlier that afternoon, when picking Caleb up from school, we exited the building upstairs and got a sneak preview of the souvenier table. He already knew we were supposed to see the show that night, so he got really excited. He did not want to leave...he wanted to see the "vegetables" right now!! I had to convince him that we needed to go home and take a nap while we wait on Daddy to come home because we wanted Daddy to go to the show with us and he was still at work.
Before the show, we took Caleb to the souvenier table to get a surprise. He picked out the "red tomato" whose name is Bob. Almost a week later, he does not let Bob out of his sight and he sleeps with him! It is really sweet.
Caleb looooved the show!! He watched, sang, and danced the entire time. During intermission, he kept asking where they went and if they were finished going peepee yet, ha! If Mommy or Daddy started singing or dancing along with him, he would stop and tell us not to. We did not realize that we were just his vehicle to and from the show...definitely can't embrarrass this 2.5 year old in front of his friends, haha :) At the end of the show, they sang the Veggie Tales theme song and then said bye. When the lights came on and they exited the stage, Caleb started crying. He wanted more!! Such a sweet boy. Thankfully we had a Veggie Tales DVD in the car so he could watch them on the way home.
Veggie Tales Theme Song:
Bob: If you like to talk to tomatoes
If a squash can make you smile
If you like to waltz with potatoes
Up and down the produce aisle...
Have we got a show for you!
All: VeggieTales, VeggieTales, VeggieTales, VeggieTales,
VeggieTales, VeggieTales, VeggieTales, VeggieTales!
Bob: Broccoli! Celery! Gotta be
All: VeggieTales!
Junior: Lima beans! Collard greens! Peachy keen!
All: VeggieTales!
Larry: Cauliflower! Sweet and sour! Half and hour!
All: VeggieTales!
All: There's never-ever-ever-ever-ever been a show like VeggieTales!
There's never-ever-ever-ever-ever been a show like VeggieTales!
It's time for VeggieTales!
After we returned home from the show, Caleb got out a few of his instruments (guitar, harmonica, and piano) and put on a concert for us. He sang, "Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales...Talk to tomatoes. If a squash can make you smiiiiiile! Show for you....Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales!" And the entire time he was dancing up a storm. It was so cute and hillarious, I just hate we did not catch him on camera.
Caleb enjoyed the show so much, we are thinking about taking him to the Circus next month when they come to town :)

Kailyn's First Weekend in Guntersville
Last weekend we went to Guntersville to stay with Daddy's parents. Daddy was fishing in his Uncle Jimmy's fishing tournament on Saturday, so we decided to just make a weekend of it. We had a great time visiting with everyone and Caleb had a blast playing with Addison. Caleb actually went over to Grandmama and Grandad's on Thursday afternoon to spend the night that night, then Daddy, Mommy, and Kailyn went over on Friday afternoon. Caleb loves his grandparents so much and always enjoys spending time with them.
On Saturday, Daddy got up early to go fishing. Then once the kids were up and about Mommy, Aunt Jessica, and Grandmama decided we should go shopping. We dropped Kailyn off with Gran Gran and took Caleb and Addison to a small consignment sale. There were no toys there, so then we took them to pick out a toy at the store. Afterwards we all went to Dairy Queen for lunch and ice cream! By the time we were finished running around town, it was almost time for Daddy to finish up with the fishing tournament. Daddy really wanted Caleb to come to the weigh in and see the fish, so we decided to let the kids skip nap time (gasp!) and go on to the boat ramp. Caleb really enjoyed seeing the boats, water, and fish, which made us glad we decided to let him go.

Later Saturday afternoon, the Johnson's came by to visit and we had a fish fry. This was their first time to see Kailyn, so it was a special visit. We always enjoy catching up with them!
On Sunday, Daddy took Caleb golfing for a little while in the morning.
Here are some pictures of Caleb on the golf course at Gunter's Landing:
(Daddy thought it would be funny to get Caleb to wear 2 different colors of Crocs!)
Later that morning, we went to Great Grandmother's to do our taxes. The Johnson's were still there so Ella got to hold Kailyn and she was so excited! I still remember holding Ella for the first time...boy how time flies.
While Caleb napped, Daddy and Grandad went out to golf 9 holes while Mommy stayed with Kailyn and packed our things to return home after naptime.
And sweet Kailyn took an afternoon nap before heading home:
The weekends always go by quickly for us, especially when we are having lots of fun. We are looking forward to many more weekends in Guntersville now that the spring weather has arrived- there is so much to do there!

*Playdates*
Spring has sprung around here and so have lots of playdates for us! We have been enjoying being busy and getting to see all of our friends lately.
Last week was Spring Break from Caleb's Mother's Day Out program, so I jumped at the chances to get out of the house and keep us busy.
On Wednesday, we met one of my friends from our sunday school class, Ashley, and her two girls at the Botanical Gardens. Bella is four and Juliet is just a few weeks old. Caleb had lots of fun running around and exploring the gardens with Bella. There is lots to do there including a garden just for kids which includes lots of pretend play, a sand box, water features, and even a butterfly house! After playing for a while we ate lunch at the restaurant there before heading home for a big nap.

Caleb loved the sandbox:
And of course, Kailyn snoozed:
Kailyn went on her very first playdate last Thursday at the Cobb's house. Caleb went to spend the night with Grandmama and Grandad, so it was just Kailyn and Mommy this time. Rachel went with a St. Patrick's Day theme and it was so cute. Everyone brought a different color fruit and the kids assembled a rainbow, such a fun activity!! Kailyn has two new friends in our Sunday School group. Henry came a few weeks after Kailyn on February 26 and we think he is so handsome. Juliet was born exactly one month after Kailyn on March 4, which ironically was also her due date. I know these three will be great friends growing up in the church together.
Then this Monday we were invited to the Cobb's house again so that Caleb could play with Jordan and Jayden (age 3). The boys had all played together for a short time at our house a few weeks before when they brought us dinner one afternoon. Caleb has asked about Jordan and Jayden several times since then and I think it went the other way around too with the boys asking about Caleb...so Rachel and I knew we had to get them all together to play soon. We had a blast! It is always nice to get in a little Mommy talk while the kids play! (and I forgot to take pictures...oops!)
On Wednesday, Kacie brought Finlee (age 4) and Rylann (5 months) over to play. Caleb and Finlee played toys for a little while because Kacie and I both had to feed the babies. Once everyone was settled back down, we loaded up and took the kids to Bridgestreet for pizza, a carousel ride, and frozen yogurt. The kids had a wonderful time, I can't wait to do it again soon :)
Caleb and Finlee played tools while waiting on our food:

Kailyn basically slept through the entire playdate!

Kailyn- One Month
*This post is a little late...more like 6 weeks instead of 1 month, but better late than never!!
I can't believe that our sweet Kailyn is already 1 month old. It doesn't seem like that much time has passed, but then again I can't imagine life without her. She has been such a blessing to our lives. Kailyn is such a sweet little girl. Now that we are at the one month mark, her schedule is getting a little more predictable. It usually goes a little something like this:
5am- morning snack bottle (2 to 3 oz)
7:30 or 8- breakfast bottle (4oz)
11:30- lunch bottle (4oz)
3pm- afternoon snack bottle (3oz)
7:30 or 8- bedtime bottle (4 to 5 oz)
2am- middle of the night bottle (3 to 4 oz)
Although the times still vary a lot, it is nice to be able to predict when she may want a bottle. And most nights she just sticks to that one feeding around 2 am, meaning Mommy only has to get up once. After the 5am feeding, it is easier for Mommy to stay up and get a shower and ready for the day before Big Brother gets up.
Kailyn sleeps most of the time still. She wakes up ready to eat and most of the time falls asleep with the last few sips of her bottle. Every once in a while she will try and fight going back to sleep, which makes her a little fussy. The swing has been good for getting Kailyn to go to sleep sometime, it just rocks her back into that deep sleep! We think she is going to have a really sweet personality...she barely cries. When she wakes up to eat, she mostly grunts. If we wait too long to feed her, of course she gets mad. But she does not like to be messed with- changing diaper, clothes, bath, etc. But Mommy thinks it is because all of those things make her a little cold and that will get better with time.
We have been getting out of the house a lot more the past few weeks. Mommy has to take Caleb to school twice a week and pick him up. Luckily, we are able to do the car line in the mornings, but we have to walk in to get him in the afternoons. Sometimes while Caleb is at school Kaiyln and Mommy will run errands and other times we go home to rest or clean house. We have also been getting out a lot as a family to go to dinner, Target- Caleb's favorite, or run other errands. As long as Kailyn has just eaten, she does really well when we are out and about...she just sleeps in her carseat :)
On February 13, 2012 Kailyn had her newborn check up. She weighed 5lbs 1oz, which was less than her birth weight (5lbs 6oz). But everything else looked great! She had to have some blood work done by sticking her heel, but she handled it very well by only crying for a short minute. Since she was underweight at her newborn apointment, we had to go back the following week on February 21 for a weight check and she weighed 5lbs 10oz!!!
Here are some pictures from Kailyn's first month!!

Caleb and the Elevator
We had an interesting afternoon last Thursday when picking up Caleb from school. He always likes to ride the elevator up since I park in the top parking lot, I think he just loves to push buttons! So, just like every other time, I helped him push the door for it to open, turned around to get Kailyn's stroller to push in as it was opening. Look up and Caleb's tiny little hand was jammed in between the door and the wall...it's hard to explain. But basically he had his hand on the door when it was opening and it sucked it in!! And I could not get it out. So I screamed for help. Let me tell you, I have never been so terrified in my entire life. All I could think was omg, his hand is crushed or broken, MY baby boy. So what seemed like minutes was only a few seconds and we had tons of help. Someone called 911 and one of the Dad's was able to pull back on the door and his hand slid out. It was swollen, I was still sooo scared. Then the ambulance got there and they said that since he was moving it and could squeeze and all of that he was probably ok. So that afternoon I got him into the pediatricians office and they also said that it looked just fine. No need for an x ray even. By about an hour after it happened, he was the same old Caleb, playing just fine. It might have been barely swollen, but not even a bruise the next day! Do you know how lucky we are?! God was definitely watching over him last Thursday. What a praise. And of course, I feel horrible, like the worst Mom on the earth. And I am embrarrased because there was a huge crowd of other Mom's watching as I cried and Caleb screamed. At least I gave them something to talk about, I guess! But I felt so guilty yesterday. I cried the whole way home in between trying to call Jeremy who was in a meeting.I am just so so glad my baby boy is ok!! :)
