Life with the Gilmore's: Kailyn- 2 Months Old

Can you believe that our Kailyn is already 2 months old?! Time is going by so fast with her already.

This month Kailyn has went from wearing preemie clothes to newborn clothes. The 0-3 month clothes still look really big for her...maybe next month! She has also went from wearing preemie diapers to newborn (only for a week or so) and now she is in size 1 diapers. She is still eating about 4 ounces every feeding. But if she is up for a while, she sometimes needs an extra 1-2 ounces before she goes back to sleep. She is definitely having more awake time now. During the day she is staying up about 2 hours in between feedings, sometimes 3 hours. But she is not very content when she is awake. She likes to either be eating, have her pacie, or being snuggled. We think she will get the hang of being awake and happy soon, or at least we hope so! Mommy loves holding her, but it doesn't leave her much time to get things done around the house lately. And Mommy is not used to having an unkept house!!!

Kailyn's schedule is still similar to when we did her 1 month post, which was written when she was about 6 weeks (oops!).
2am- wake up, 4 ounces (stay up for about 1 hour)
6am- wake up, 3-4 ounces (usually goes down pretty quickly, morning cat nap)
7:30am- morning awake time, 4 ounces
9:30am- starts getting fussy, fighting nap, usually needs 2 more ounces to get to sleep
12:30pm- lunch time bottle, 4 ounces (goes back to sleep fairly quickly, usually up for about 1 hour)
4pm- afternoon snack, 4 ounces (the afternoons are when she fights sleep the most. Taking lots of cat naps, needing lots of attention and pacie.)
9pm- Bedtime bottle, 4ounces

Maybe this month we will bring out the play mat and see if she likes it. Kailyn still really likes the swing, if she is having a hard time getting to sleep it helps out a lot. Sometimes Mommy thinks it is because the noise of the swing drowns out big brother, Caleb playing. :) Kailyn is also starting to show a little personality. Mommy thinks she is going to be a sassy little girl! When she gets mad or is fighting sleep, she kicks her legs a lot and gets really squirmy. Sometimes she is content having her pacie for a little while after she wakes up, but other times she demands to be fed very quickly and gets really wound up crying if you don't act quickly. So much drama already!

We are still getting out a lot and staying busy! Kailyn is getting easier to predict when she is going to need to eat or nap, so we try to time outings when she is sleeping. Caleb is used to being on the go and loves to get out, so Kailyn will to, we hope.

And yes...she is still sleeping in the basinet in Mommy and Daddy's room. It is just easier on Mommy to have her beside the bed at night. Mommy can reach over and give her the pacie when she starts waking up and that usually can buy Mommy 20 more minutes of sleep...and we all know sleep is precious to Mommy right now. Plus, it is nice for Mommy to be able to stretch out on the bed and watch tv while feeding Kailyn and trying to get her back to sleep. And Daddy likes it too when he takes the weekend shift :)

Also this month, Mommy stopped pumping when Kailyn was 8 weeks old. We have several weeks of milk frozen, so we thought it would be a good stopping point. It was a hard decision for Mommy since her supply was still doing so well. But the pumping was taking a lot of time out of Mommy's day in addition to feeding and taking care of Kailyn plus caring for big brother and the house. Mommy is still a little sad that stage is over, but can already tell that she is a little less stressed and overwhelmed with a little more time in her schedule.
