Life with the Gilmore's: Kailyn- 5 Months

Kailyn has had a big 4th month! We have been to the River twice, Guntersville several times, and to the Zoo. For some reason, Mommy and Daddy frequently say that we are going to slow down for a few weeks, but we still stay busy! It is fun though :)

New things this month are: Kailyn loves to play in the saucer or jumperoo. She will sit in it and play for at least 5 minutes, sometimes up to 10 minutes before getting a little fussy and waning attention. She is playing toys really well...or at least tasting all of them. Everything goes straight to her mouth! But she is reaching out and grabbing things, especially Mommy's hair. She is sooo close to rolling over from back to front, but just won't do it. Kailyn still hates tummy time, so getting down the roll from front to back may take a while. She is still smiling all of the time, which Mommy absolutely loves. Also, when Mommy starts talking, she will turn her head towards me and start smiling most of the time. Kailyn still hates the car if she is awake, but if you can time it right when she is tired, she will fall asleep by herself.

Food: Kailyn has been eating Rice Cereal and Oatmeal for the whole month. Mommy and Daddy have been a little lazy on getting into a good schedule with it, but she does great when we remember to give it to her! Now that she is 5 months old, she gets to start baby food very soon. We are still making her 6oz bottles most of the time, but she does not finish it in one sitting...usually eating about 4oz to start, then will save the last bit for later, usually when it is time for a nap.

Sleep: Ha! Little miss has all of the sudden regressed on her night time sleeping. She now gets up 2 times at night and still early in the morning, around 6. We aren't sure why, but Mommy is suspecting teeth may be in her near future! She still naps in the swing when we are at home and does great. She fights naps sometimes, but is pretty good at going on to sleep most of the time.

Fashion: She is still wearing 3-6 month clothes, but has also started wearing her 6 month stuff that Mommy bought for the end of the summer! Let's hope we don't run out of clothes before it gets cold. Thankfully Aunt Kacie is letting us borrow some of Rylann's things since she is several months ahead of Kailyn. She is still wearing a size 3 diaper and should be in that for a while. She is definitely taking after her brother and has a big head. Some of her shirts are tough to get over that big noggin. Her feet are still tiny and so cute. The size 2 sandals that Mommy got for the summer are still too big, so we sport barefeet most of the time.

Kailyn's schedule is still very wishy washy most days, but we can start to see a pattern of some sort:

6 am- Wake Up, happy baby, ready to play

6:30am- Bottle

8:30-10am- Most mornings takes a little cat nap

10am- Cereal or Oatmeal topped off with a little bottle

10-12pm- Play, Run Errands, etc.

12-3:30pm- Big afternoon nap

4pm- Bottle

4:30-6:30 or 7pm- Play, Dinner, etc.

7pm- Bath time, quickly followed by a night time bottle and bed time.

IF Kailyn is rested and has a full belly, she is the happiest little girl and we love it. Mommy just loves the way her eyes sparkle and the dimples in her cheeks shine when she smiles. And every once in a while, she will get so excited that she lets out a squeal that is adorable. With every day that passes, we fall more in love with her...if that is even possible. She has definitely completed our family and for that we feel so blessed.
