Zoo Adventure in Birmingham

June 23, 2012
Last weekend, we planned on staying home and taking it easy. Mommy and Daddy had a few projects we wanted to accomplish too like clean our cars, organize the garage, etc. Aunt Jessica and Uncle Josh decided to take Addison to the Zoo and called to see if we wanted to go with them. We quickly declined saying that we needed to slow down for a weekend. Well...Saturday morning we decided that we needed to get Caleb out of the house and do something fun for the morning. We started to pack things to go to the Botanical Gardens for the morning when Mommy and Daddy looked at each other and said, "Why aren't we going to the Zoo?" Caleb loves the Zoo!!! So we called Josh and said we are on our way- we will meet yall there. We quickly packed up and headed to Birmingham for the day. It was very HOT, but we had a great time. Grandad rode down with Addison and both kids really enjoyed having him there too. We saw lots of animals, drank lots of water, and even enjoyed an ice cream cone to cool us off. After the Zoo, we headed to the Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch- their air conditioner was amazing :)
Kailyn was excited to see the animals (her 2nd Zoo trip!)
Caleb and Addison were sooo excited to see each other and ran for big hugs when we got there! So sweet.
Watching the Flamingos
As soon as Caleb heard the "Choo Choo" he did not stop asking to ride it!
Part of our group walking into the Zoo...First stop- the Monkey's!!

Addison was so excited to see the monkey's so that is where we headed first.

The Gorilla was hard to see, he was trying to find a cool and shady spot to rest.

The kids saw a playground and had to stop for a minute.

Sweet picture of Caleb and his Grandad!
The Tiger was hiding in a cool, shady spot too! But we finally spotted him.
We walked up to the Lion habitat just in time to watch them eat lunch! It was pretty crowded, but we did get to see a little.
Addison was tired of walking too, so Caleb shared is ride!
The Zebras are always so pretty!

Kailyn was such a trooper in the heat!
Caleb enjoyed his Grandad going with us so much.
