A few weeks ago, we met up with Grandmama, Grandaddy, Gran Gran, Uncle Josh, Aunt Jessica, and Addison for our very first train ride! Caleb loves trains, so of course he was sooo excited. We rode the train to a "pumpkin patch" where the kids all got to choose a pumpkin. It turned out to be an empty lot on the side of the road where they dumped some pumpkins the kids just got to go pick one out and put it in a bag. Oh, and did I mention that our train car blew a fuse and had no air conditioning?! Thankfully there was an open air car to take the kids on and they really enjoyed that. So overall? It was just okay. It was a good memory for the kids, they really had a great time...but the adults all thought it was super lame! Ha! Oh well.
And just for the record book- I get Mommy of the year award. That Friday night I woke up with horrible stomach pains that got worse if I stood straight up. I spent most of Saturday in bed, struggled to get up and get ready for the train excursion, but did! I was in SO much pain the entire time. I just couldn't miss out on the kids' first train ride! We had invited everyone over to our house afterward to eat dinner and watch the Alabama game. I tried so hard to sit downstairs and visit with everyone for a bit but ended up going upstairs and laying in the bed because that helped ease the pain. What was wrong? GAS. Yes, I'm serious. Sunday morning I ran out of things to take and decided to take a GasX and waala- no more pain. Whew...I wouldn't wish that on my worse enemy.

FRIDAY: Daddy took off work at lunch time so that we could grab lunch on the way out of town and the kids could nap on the way to Tuscaloosa. Kailyn actually fell asleep while eating her McDonald’s chicken nuggets…then of course, Caleb had to pee about 20 minutes later so when we stopped she woke up! After a lot of persuasion, Caleb took a little cat nap at some point…but neither had good naps this day. We feel so loved to have Daddy’s Aunt and Uncle to let us stay with them when we come into town. They are always so welcoming and we have lots of fun with them! Daddy’s parents rode down with his brother’s family..including Caleb’s bestie, Addison. So the entire Gilmore gang was there!! After everyone arrived, we headed down the road to eat dinner at a favorite Mexican restaurant, Jalapenos- yum! Thankfully I had bought all of the kids stickers at the store earlier that week so they were all entertained while we were there. We actually decided to skip the pep rally and bonfire this year because the parade was at 7am and we had an early start the next morning! The kids burned their last bit of energy playing outside before baths and bedtime.
On Saturday morning, the parade started at 7am since the game kickoff was 11:20! We were all up and at 'em and headed to campus at about 6:40am. I still can't believe we did it..and we even fed the kids breakfast!! I am so glad we bit the bullet and got up super early because the kids absolutely loved it. Caleb's favorite parts were Big AL and the band. None of the kids enjoyed the big trucks that came by blaring their horns. It was really cute, several of the sorority girls walking by would give the kids high fives, which they loved that thought was really cool.
After the parade, Cynthia and Grandmama took Drew home for nap time. The rest of us headed to the Quad for some fun. Kailyn actually fell asleep in the stroller ride down the strip to the Quad- how I have no idea with all that was going on everywhere. Then we took the kids to get their faces painted, which Caleb refused since he does not like face paint. Next we walked over to the jumper area and let the kids jump while Kailyn finished up her cat nap in the stroller. It was such a nice day outside so I enjoyed sitting with her and people watching. Once she woke up, we played for a few more minutes then it was time for Grandaddy and Aunt Jessica to head back to the house with Kailyn for lunch and nap time.
Caleb got to stay back with us and go to his very 1st Alabama football game!!! He had an absolute blast. I am so so glad we took him. He watched the game and asked questions, cheered, and watched for Big Al. We were a little disappointed that the band didn’t do their regular show since it was homecoming but still got to enjoy everything else. I even remembered to take my extra zoom lense for the camera and got some pretty good pictures of the players, coaches, and Big Al. We can’t until next year to take him to another game. ROLL TIDE!!!
On Sunday morning, Ella was singing in the choir at their Church, so we all decided to go with them to the service. Ella was so cute in her robe and looked like such a big girl standing up there with all of her friends- I was very proud of her! Unfortunately, Kailyn was a handful and I didn’t get to take a picture of her. We did take a few after Church though!
After Church we stopped by campus on our way out of town for a few pictures. Again, Kailyn was a handful…extra sleepy, I think from a very full weekend of fun! Unfortunately, we did not get many pictures at all and the ones we got weren’t that good. I always look forward to these pictures each year, so I am a little bummed. Oh well! The kids definitely owe me a picture taking day at the gardens soon!!
P.S. Notice how many pictures there are of Jeremy holding Kailyn- this is not normal…she is such a Mommy’s girl lately but since Mommy is usually the only one that takes pictures, we don’t get many of her!!!!!
