August 2013

Time for an August round up! We had a semi-busy month spending a few weekends at the River and then getting back into the routine of going back to school. Then someone had a big Birthday at the end of the month...but I think it deserves it's own post!! Enjoy :)
August 2, 2013: Botanical Gardens
We enjoyed a fun trip to the Botanical Gardens with Mommy! The kids splashed in the fountains for a little while (no pictures) then changed into dry clothes to explore the butterfly house. The kids always enjoy our days at the gardens so much.
August 9-11, 2013: The River
Finally a pretty weekend at the River this summer! The kids enjoyed lots of swimming, boating, and play time. Caleb rode a jet ski for the first time with Pops and had a really good time! Kailyn still isn’t sure about the River water and would prefer to swim in “clean” water in the kiddie pool- who can blame her there? It works out best for us anyways since she has tubes in her ears and isn’t supposed to get non chlorinated water in her ears. Once again, Caleb just enjoyed spending lots of time with Pops, including spending the night in his camper! Kailyn has even warmed up to Pops and has realized how much fun he is.
August 13, 2013: The Splash Pad with Sunday School Friends
We have a new splash pad in town and all of the Mommies in our Sunday School class have been meaning to get together all summer to try it out. Well, we finally made it and it is so nice. Most of the kids had a blast- my two, not so much. I think Kailyn’s teeth were bothering her, she was super fussy. And Caleb is my slow to warm up to new things child, so he kind of stayed on the side lines a lot. I packed a picnic lunch to eat after they played but decided to go ahead home to eat since Kailyn was so fussy. Boo!! Hopefully next time will be better.
August 16-18, 2013: The River with NO Kids
Grandmama and Grandaddy offered to keep the Caleb for the weekend and of course, we said, “Sure!” Then we got Gran Gran on board to keep Miss Kailyn! At first we thought we should just stay home and do a few things around the house, go out on a date, etc. But then we decided not to be so boring for once and head to the River for a little relaxation and adult time! We were so glad we did because it was a lot of fun. The weather was not great, a little cool, cloudy, and a few sprinkles. At least it wasn’t a total wash out. We did a lot of snacking and visiting with family, which was very nice without chasing 2 kids around the whole time like we are used to. It was my Aunt Amy’s Birthday weekend and my Uncle and (other) Aunt were in from Arizona, so it was a perfect weekend to enjoy family time.
While in Guntersville, Grandmama, Grandaddy, and Caleb met Uncle Josh, Aunt Jessica, and Addison at a local petting zoo/farm and they had a lot of fun! I hate we missed it, but so glad they enjoyed family time too.
August 20, 2013: First Day Back to School
Caleb was so excited to go back to school this year! Of course, he was a little nervous moving up to the 4-year old class with new teachers and (mostly) new friends. Thankfully he knew two of the little boys in his class already! The first day of school he did awesome, like an old pro! He is already learning so much too. Now this year is Kailyn’s first time to go to school, so she struggled a little bit. I think it helped that it is the same building they go to Sunday School in but she still did not like being left by Mommy and cried at drop off the first few days. It didn’t last long though, now she does not cry at all and always has so much fun with her teachers and friends!! Yay for Mommy Time again  I love that I can get errands ran, go home and clean, or even meet Jeremy for luch all while knowing the kids are safe and happy.
August 28, 2013: Kid Venture Play Date
We had a last minute play date with our friends at Kid Venture. I was talking to my friend Ashley on the phone and we decided it might be easier to chat and catch up if we meet out and let the kids play! We all had a great morning!!
