Wrapping up the Season!

Caleb has thoroughly enjoyed baseball this spring. I think he was nervous at first, since it was new to him...he kept comparing it to soccer. It seemed like the season didn't last long at all- and it really didn't. All of the pre-season practices were rained out except for one. Then once the season started, so many games were rained out and rescheduled and smooshed into a few weeks all together.
April 29, 2015: Caleb hit and made it to the bases! He was able to score twice this game, if I am remembering correctly. He has a lot more fun when he is at the top of the batting order and has the chance to run all of the bases before it is time to switch to defense. Daddy was asked to help out on the field this game, which was fun to see him able to coach Caleb a little bit while he was batting.
April 30, 2015: Daddy was asked to help out again with the team. Kailyn couldn't stand it and drove me nuts, but I know it was fun for Caleb! Our big guy scored again during this game...way to go!
May 4, 2015: Gran Gran came by to cheer Caleb on! Kailyn was the most excited about this because Gran Gran has started making it a habit of taking Kailyn to the playground beside the fields to play until it is time to watch Caleb bat. And she buys them Ring Pops! Spoiled little monkey's!!
Caleb's last game was the playoff game. It got post poned a couple of times because of...you guessed it- RAIN! We were excited for him to finally play. Unfortunately, the Cardinals got placed with one of the best teams in their age group and got smoked. Sorry- just calling it as it happened. Our kids played hard though and had fun, which is what counts. Caleb got out running to 1st base on his first batting try. The second time he batted, he made it all the way around and scored. He barely made it from 3rd to home, I was so glad he was SAFE!! Grandaddy was also excited to be able to make it to another game this season. It sure was a hot one though- whew!
After the game, the coach pulled the team over to a shady picnic area to hand out the end of the season trophies. I knew that this was taking place but didn't tell Caleb- he was so surprised to get a tropy! His very first trophy, in fact.
Here's to an awesome baseball season, my little guy! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you. Although you got shorted getting to play a variety of field positions, you gave it a lof of effort and I think you really enjoyed yourself. I hope you still want to play again next spring because I am looking forward to watching you. I am so curious what your chosen sport/s will be when you're older! I know Daddy is hoping for golf, but so far I'm liking baseball :)
