His Best Friend's Wedding
October 11-14, 2012
Last weekend had been planned for several months- a 3 day, kid free weekend! We enlisted both Grandmama/Grandad and Gran Gran to help with the kids. Grandmama and Grandad got both kids on Thursday afternoon and kept them both that night and all day Friday. When Gran Gran got off work on Friday afternoon, she picked up Caleb to keep him for the remainder of the weekend. Then on Sunday, she went by Grandmama and Grandad's to pick up Kailyn and bring both kiddos home for us. We love the grandparents :)
All of this was not done for us though, it was done for Daddy's high school best friend, Joseph. This was his wedding weekend and Daddy was one of his groomsmen! We traveled to Memphis/Germantown on Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed a peaceful dinner alone at Red Robin before checking into our hotel. After checking in, we went to Joseph's apartment to catch up before all of the wedding craziness started the next day. On Friday, we slept in- ahhh! Then we headed to the wedding store to pick up Daddy's tuxedo then met Joseph and Jeanene and family for lunch at an Italian restaurant. Then we headed back to the hotel to rest and get ready for the Rehearsal later that afternoon. They had a great rehearsal and soon it was time for dinner. Joseph's Mom hosted an amazing night at a local steakhouse. We both ordered the Filet Minon and it was yummy. We all stayed way too late visiting, but had a blast. Saturday was the big day. The guys had plans to golf that morning, so Mommy decided to entertain herself and go shopping. Then Daddy had to be at the Church early for pictures, so Mommy stayed back and took her time getting ready then rode with her friend, Claire (another wife of the wedding party) to the wedding. Mommy and Claire had met several times but had never really hung out much- we hit it off! Mommy is looking forward to hanging out with her more in the future. The wedding was beautiful and the reception was gorgeous. They had fun finger foods, an open bar, and a dj. It was also fun dressing "fancy" for the night! Again, we stayed up way too late having fun with old friends, but totally worth it. On Sunday morning, we slept in and took our time getting packed up. Then we headed home. Luckily, we got home before the kids and were able to catch up on some housework, unpack, and even make a quick Publix run, which made the start of the week a lot easier on Mommy!
Although we do not know Jeanene very well, we enjoyed getting to know her more and just by seeing the way Joseph looks at her, we know they will have a strong marriage. We are looking forward to seeing them grow as a couple, and hopefully as a family in the future :) Congratulations, guys!!!
